BOAT PEOPLE SOS

Building Communities. Growing Leaders.

MISSIONS
Boat People SOS (BPSOS) is a non-profit company committed to protecting the liberty, dignity and improving the quality of life for all Vietnamese Americans, as well as vulnerable and underserved populations. Our goal is to transform victims into survivors and active citizens who reach out and help others like them achieve liberty and dignity.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Despite the many challenges caused by the pandemic, we at BPSOS continue to make a difference to thousands of lives each year. Some of our achievements in 2022:

  • Helped in the rescue and/or repatriation of 61 trafficked victims in Saudi Arabia and 13 victims in Cambodia, among them a dozen minors. We secured $45,000 in reintegration assistance for 23 of them.

  • Filed 84 submissions for refugee status with UNHCR; 12 families (23 individuals) were recognized as refugees.

  • Advocated for the resettlement of refugees. There is an uptick in refugee resettlement of Vietnamese in Thailand: 36 going to Canada and 20 to the United States.

  • Advocated for prisoners of conscience in Vietnam and secured over $32,000 in emergency assistance for seven at-risk or imprisoned human rights defenders.

  • Facilitated the participation of persecuted communities in international and regional forums and the UN review of Vietnam’s compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

  • Compiled and submitted 46 reports on human rights violations in Vietnam.
